Illinois DOT Letting Sets Up Projects for Early 2012

Last Friday, the Illinois Department of Transportation let a series of road and bridge projects, many of which would get underway in the early part of the work season next year.

The bulk of the funding for these projects comes from the $31 billion capital plan that Local 150 members helped pass, and this work has put thousands of members to work since the legislation passed in 2009.

Some of the larger projects include:

  • $29.4 million for three miles of reconstruction on I-47 near Yorkville,
$27 million for a new bridge on Route 40 in Whiteside County,
$18.8 million for several bridge replacements on I-80 through Bureau County,
$11.2 million for widening of 75th Street through Downers Grove and Woodridge,
$9.4 million for a new storm sewer at I-190/I-294 in Rosemont,
$8 million for new bridges throughout Ogle County,
$7.7 million for new lanes on Route 62 through South Barrington,
$4 million for two new bridges along Rout e26 in Lee County,

and more than 100 other projects. Click HERE to read the full letting on the IDOT website.
