On May 2, the Mississippi River reached its highest levels since the devastating flood of 1993, flooding much of Downtown Davenport and spreading throughout the Quad-Cities area. Local 150’s District 8 Hall in Rock Island was surrounded by water when the flood reached its crest of more than 22 feet on Thursday afternoon.
Local 150 staff and members have been volunteering to help the City of Davenport fill sandbags to protect unaffected areas. Even with no additional rain, it will be several days before the water begins to recede. Additional rain is expected next week as well.
Thanks go out to all the members who have stepped up to help! If you are available to volunteer, please call the District 8 hall at 309-787-4646
