The employees of the Frankfort Public Works Department have chosen to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, the union announced today. Local 150 has filed a petition with the Illinois State Labor Relations Board to represent more than 30 workers in the Public Works Department and once it is certified as exclusive bargaining representative, the union will schedule negotiations for a first contract.
These workers maintain roads, support water and sewer systems, plow snow, and perform various other functions for village residents.

Sweeney. “Frankfort is one of the few remaining municipalities in the area whose public works employees were not represented by a union, and we are eager to negotiate an agreement that benefits the workers and provides outstanding service to the residents and taxpayers in Frankfort.”
