Right now, an Indiana Senate committee is advancing legislation that would negatively impact Indiana’s Design-Build law, removing requirements for contractors to participate in apprenticeship programs.
Instead of requiring contractors to use federally-approved apprenticeship training, these changes would only require contractors to allow workers access to unspecified training.
These changes would water down training requirements, opening up public projects to unskilled workers and abandoning the state’s commitment to developing the next generation of construction workers in Indiana.
