IUOE Local 150 and The Indiana, Illinois, Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting (IIIFFC) have partnered with Black Baseball Media (BBM) to provide much-needed baseball jerseys and to expose children across Chicagoland to career opportunities in the building trades after high school.
At a recent BBM event, IIIFFC DEIA Outreach Coordinator Marcus Jordan spoke to kids and parents on the importance of preparing for “life after baseball” and the road to becoming an Operating Engineer with Local 150. Marcus also brought along Local 150’s traveling machine simulator so that kids could experience what it’s like to be behind the controls of heavy machinery. There were a few Operating Engineers in the room that were glad to see the kids excited to test out the controls!
IUOE Local 150 and the IIIFFC plan to continue their partnership with BBM throughout the baseball season.
