Opinions of unions are at their most positive since the depths of the Great Recession, according to a recent study from the Pew Research Center.
Overall, 47 percent of Americans believe unions have a positive impact, compared with 32 percent who believe they have a negative impact. These numbers were flipped at the bottom in 2010 (32 percent positive/49 percent negative), and have improved among both Republicans and Democrats.
Research has shown a boost in public support for unions over the past several years, likely generated in response to growing income inequality, wage stagnation, and decrease in benefits available to workers.
