If you have coverage under the Retiree Welfare Plan (RWP) and are approaching Medicare, this information is for you! Medicare retirees have a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) under the RWP, called SilverScript Employer PDP sponsored by The Midwest Operating Engineers (SilverScript). It is imperative that you enroll in Medicare timely and provide the Fund Office with a copy of your Medicare card as soon as you receive it, so you get automatically enrolled in SilverScript.
You can provide this information by doing any of the following:
- Call the Fund Office’s Member Services Department at 708-579-6600
- Fax a copy of the Medicare card to the attention of the Fund Office’s Benefits & Eligibility Group at 708-352-3310
- Mail a copy of the Medicare card to the Fund Office, Attention: Benefits & Eligibility Group 6150 Joliet Road, Countryside, IL 60525
Failure to enroll in Medicare timely and provide a copy of your Medicare card to the Fund Office will result in a loss of your prescription drug coverage under the Retiree Welfare Plan. You will continue to have RWP medical and dental coverage, but you will pay the full RWP premium amount.
Once you have been successfully enrolled in SilverScript you will begin receiving various communication pieces from SilverScript about your prescription coverage. It is critical that you open and read everything you receive from the Fund Office and SilverScript. Most importantly, you will receive a letter with a new SilverScript MedicareRx ID card and effective date. Please present your new SilverScript MedicareRx ID card at the pharmacy on or after the date indicated.
If you are Medicare age but still have coverage under an Active plan, then please be sure to send the Fund Office a copy of your Medicare card as soon as you make the decision to retire, if the Fund Office doesn’t already have that information on file.
If you have any questions regarding any of this information, please contact the Pharmacy Benefit Department at (708) 387-8331.
